Proof of Concept upload and the future
A couple months ago I finished work on my most recent project. A Zelda clone that I would then evolve into my own game. However, after finishing the prototype it became obvious to me that this wasn't the style of game I needed. So, after some time to think about it, I have decided to call this project finished and move on.
It is important to note that finishing projects is important. You can only improve your own knowledge base and experience by completing projects. At the same time, it is important to know when something is finished. With this proof of concept I had set a milestone of finishing one dungeon, complete with a boss. I accomplished that, and more! I was able to learn about shaders and different plugins to a larger depth than before. Had I decided to bail on the project sooner, or just trash it and move on instead of posting it, then I would have missed out on all of this new found knowledge!
I'm not sure what my next project will be exactly. I have several ideas, though I was originally planning on making a Tower Defense game next. We will see what the future holds!
